PRESS RELEASE
Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment Announces WiT’s 30th Anniversary Wonder Women Awards To Be Held During Toy Fair New York in February 2022
April 19, 2021 - NEW YORK - Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment (WIT) announces that it has rescheduled the organization’s 30th Anniversary Wonder Women Awards for Sunday, February 20, 2022 in New York City to coincide with Toy Fair New York. WIT had previously rescheduled this year’s Wonder Women Awards for September 2021 in Los Angeles due to uncertainty related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. WIT is now planning to hold its annual event in New York, where it’s been held for the past years.
“After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone the 2021 Wonder Women Awards entirely,” said Janice Ross, WIT President. “Instead, we’re planning it for February, 2022, with the goal of hosting a safe and in-person event during Toy Fair New York. The Wonder Women Awards is renowned for its warmth, intimacy and special moments. We feel confident we’ll be able to maintain these key elements in this updated timeframe, and for the health and well being of our nominees, honorees and guests, as we recreate the event we’ve all come to know and love.”
Commenting on the postponement, Wonder Women Awards Co-Chairs Genna Rosenberg and Jennifer Caveza said, “We look forward to celebrating extraordinary women in our industry, and for some of us, being together for the first time in almost two years. Our honorees and nominees are so deserving of industry accolades, and next year’s celebration will be unlike any other as we triumphantly come together to celebrate these remarkable women.”
From now through September 1, 2021, anyone may nominate a colleague, friend, themselves, or any woman who has made an impact in toys, licensing or entertainment. Nominees who were submitted in 2021 will be carried over for the 2022 event. Nominations are now open, and the deadline to nominate has been extended through September 1, 2021.
