Tell us about your career journey and how you ended up here.
After ten years in the Army and ten more in the corporate world, I found myself becoming a first-time mom at age 40! It wasn't long into the motherhood journey that I encountered a problem ALL new parents face - the constant dropping and throwing of toys! I came up with an idea for a solution to that problem and here I am... an inventor with three patents and an awesome baby product on the market!

Tell us about a time when you thrived at work, and what you learned about yourself from that experience.
Busy Baby sales dropped to ZERO for three days at the beginning of the pandemic. I pivoted a few things and found myself with the highest demand ever. I quickly adjusted, got more inventory on hand, and figured out how to grow even more. I learned that I thrive under pressure and really do refuse to fail!
What is your favorite part of your job?
I LOVE interacting with my customers and helping them find more uses for the Busy Baby Mat and hearing about how much it is helping them in their lives. I also love every other aspect of running my company! I wake up excited every single morning because there is never a dull day!
How about when you "turn off" and go home? Any hobbies or fun activities you are involved in?
With a three-year-old and an infant at home, I do my best to just give them ALL of my free time. Lately building forts in the new Busy Baby warehouse has been the most fun activity around!

I've always listened to the How I Built This podcast with Guy Raz. It's so inspiring and empowering to listen to the success stories of other people who started out just like me and learn from some of the lessons-learned they share on the show.
Anything else you want to share with the WIT Community?
Being part of a group of empowering and inspiring women has really helped give me confidence in my entrepreneurial journey. I think building and fostering relationships here is really important and I'm grateful the organization exists!
